Pam Condon lives in California and has worked as a Food Stylist for the TV show Supernatural, whose actors and crew support AIR, as well as several movies, including The Notebook, Hanging Up and Armageddon. “A Food Stylist is hired by the Prop Master to prepare, set up, maintain and clean food that is scripted in a scene. Once an actor handles food, it becomes a prop. As a Food Stylist, you are responsible for setting everything up. In addition, you must make sure to have several backups of everything. It is necessary to watch the first shot to see what happens, then reset everything back to the beginning and maintain the continuity throughout the scene,” Pam explained in an interview in April 2016, which is featured on the Nerdy Girl Express website.
Pam was also featured on the Nerdy Girl Express website a month prior to this interview. This earlier feature focused on how Supernatural and the show’s fandom have helped her cope with a physical disability.
“I’ve been disabled for 6 years now. I watch Supernatural daily on TNT. I’ve always liked the show but when I was working, I rarely had time to watch. During this 6-year period, I had 8 operations. Thank God for Supernatural airing TNT! Whether I was in the hospital or at home, I could always count on Dean and Sam [the main characters on the show]. Their struggles gave me the strength to fight,” Pam wrote in this article.
“Last July [2015], I have to admit I was starting to give up. The chronic pain was depressing and depression is debilitating. I was watching Hulu and noticed some behind the scenes footage of Supernatural. Before I knew it, I started searching YouTube for more Supernatural footage,” Pam continued. “I discovered the Supernatural fandom. The show had its own conventions and so many links to the various panels. I suddenly realized that I was not the only person that was in love with this show. I heard so many stories of others that were struggling with mental and physical issues, as well. Later, I found out about [Supernatural star] Jared Padalecki’s struggles with depression and his campaign, Always Keep Fighting. I realized that I found my home.”
Pam connected with AIR online and started volunteering for AIR at the California chapter launch in November 2015, where she videotaped Jared’s inspiring speech. (See this featured video on AIR’s homepage; you will need to scroll down a bit.) In fact, this video is also featured in the Supernatural Fan Movie (www.spnfanmovie.com), which also includes an interview of Tricia as part of the focus on the Supernatural families’ philanthropic activities.
At the Supernatural convention in Burbank, CA in November 2016, Pam Condon proudly showed off her AIR/Supernatural shirt and stars Jensen Ackles’ and Jared Padalecki’s shoes, which they donated for AIR’s In Their Shoes exhibit.

Pam was a very active and prominent AIR volunteer during the Supernatural convention in Burbank, CA this past November. “AIR inspired me to get stronger,” she said. “I’ve been fighting to get better instead of fighting to ignore my pain and disability.”
AIR looks forward to seeing Pam and to her ongoing involvement with AIR!
