Veterinarian/AIR Supporter Michael Tokiwa Shares History of Radio Show and Participation in the Flower Show
Michael Tokiwa , DVM, is the owner and Medical Director at The Animal Hospital at Kingston & Blawenburg. He learned about AIR approximately five years ago, through Chantal Cartier, owner of Maverick Pet Partners.
“Trisha’s dedication and the extreme benefit we all see that pets have on our mental wellbeing inspires me,” Dr. Tokiwa said.

Dr. Tokiwa hosts, Your Pet Matters, a weekly radio program produced by the team at Rider University’s radio station, 107.7 The Bronc that began in the Fall of 2013. “It began as a proposal from John Mozes about an interest to do a radio program,” Dr. Tokiwa said, referring to the radio station manager and a professor at Rider. “Initially, I thought of providing the general public with pet health advice, but it has turned out to be so much more,” Dr. Towiwa added.” John proposed that we run a few shows from the Flower Show and I thought it would be great.” On March 11, 2017, Your Pet Matters will be broadcast at the Flower Show and will feature discussions with AIR Co-founders Tricia and Kurt Baker. Both the broadcast at this event and AIR’s participation will be for the fourth consecutive time.

“AIR brings awareness to the issues of mental illness and suicide. It’s not usual to have this presence at a place like the Flower Show, which I believe emphasizes the impact AIR can have on such awareness. For the same reasons, having a pet radio program involving AIR is such a unique opportunity to spread AIR’s message and include the benefit pets have on our mental wellbeing,” Dr. Tokiwa said.
