AIR volunteers and AIR Dogs: Paws for Minds therapy dog teams are bringing In Their Shoes and AIR’s message around the Garden State for National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
As part of National Suicide Prevention Week (September 8-14), AIR brought In Their Shoes and therapy dog teams to Ocean County College and to the Suicide Prevention Conference, sponsored by the NJ Department of Human Services Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services at the Trenton War Memorial. Therapy dog teams also met students and staff at Rider University as part of their recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day.
“Our goal with the In Their Shoes exhibit is to let young people know that they’re not alone with their thoughts. There are others out there,” said AIR Co-Founder Tricia Baker.
AIR also will bring In Their Shoes and therapy teams to the Seventh Annual Suicide Prevention Conference on September 23 and to Summit High School later this month.
